put new internals (stroker) and make them out of like billet steel, so you can rev it to 8 grand. put the most aggressive cams you can make in there, bump the compression to like 12:1, bore the **** out of the heads, make some kind of custom sheetmetal intake, do every bolt on possible, electric water pump too. put a 4 speed auto in there with a transbrake, and 4.56's out back. put a 4500 stall converter in it. strip the interior. put on slicks on the back and skinnies up front.
you might see a 13.1

I'm the 13.81 N/A bolt on 4.0, on a 89 tune.
everything in the sig plus Line lock, BMR a arms n k member, 3000 stall convertor
I installed a intercooled vortech last week, so I have changed direction.

The next person that starts a v6 vs v8 war is going to get a foot in the ***.
Every time I see these things, I visualize the person who asked the v8 question to look like this:
Now excuse me while I shove my foot in my ***.

gears
posi
cai+tune
alum DS
headers
heads/cam
suspension upgrades
lightweight wheels
major weight reductions (gutted interior, no spare, near empty tank of gas, etc.)
would something similar to this get it in the mid 13s at least?

Well I actualy think it can be done, you need a 8.8 rear with locking diff and the right suspension. Then you need some high gears, 4.55 or more and a close ratio 6 speed auto with around 3500 stall.
Then tear down the engine. Take the block and clean it up, throw out the stock pistons and rods and possibly even the crank. Get a balanced forged rotating asembly with about 13:1 compression. Get rid of the intake plenum and put individual velocity stacks and cnc port and polish the head, add some very strong springs and very lumpy cams. Put the redline at around 7500rpm.
That should net you a N/A 400hp+ and be very street unfriendly and run on leaded 100octane. However it will be very quick. It will also be very gutless under 2k rpm.
Honestly the best bang for the buck is FI. Its that bad these days. In the old days, a set of heads and a cam did wonders. THese days it does 1/4 of what it used to and the performance tuning options via ecu will get slimer and slimer as engines evolve. I expect ford to follow suit soon enough with the likes of chrysler and GM and start locking down the ECU even more, it will probably get as bad as a bmw ecu where the major tuners have to hack the dam thing.
