I don't think that's the case (walking on the ac) cause it would be definitely due to misalignment, and if it was walking there, you'd be able to easily see the misalignment visually just looking the pullies from an angle.

My guess is that it is subtle.

First of all - did you install it yourself or have a shop do it? If a shop did it, then how many other kits (on S197's) have they installed without any issues?

Second, one thing that bothers me in the pics you posted is that your idler looks off and it appears as if the belt is riding the edge of the pully. This may just be because of the angle however, I don't think so cause I can see the belt wear on the pully and it's definitely on the edge. I would look here first and foremost...

(the idler I'm speaking of is the sliding idler under the blower pullie)

Perhaps - I'm just looking at your pics and not your car but I do know it's obvious from the pic that your belt is riding the edge of the idler and this will chew or toss a belt garunteed sooner or later...

Where you missing any ribs off the belt you lost?

Okay - maybe the pic is just deceiving.

Lastly, here is the million dollar questions - do you have an auto or manual? And most importantly, did you lose the belt an accel or decel? (decel = right when you let out of the gas)

agreed. i'm pretty sure the monster tensioners
use the stock spring, so maybe just having a
tensioner that doesn't warp, is the key to
long lasting happiness

ORIGINAL: modaddict

a tensioner like peters is much more 'forgiving' of any issues
so for most guys the easy 'fix' is usually a better tensioner.

Idler is #2...
