Default Pulling sub box out - Shaker 1000

So, I got the Shaker 1000, didn't really want it, but loved everything else about the car and I couldn't find one
otherwise the same less the Shaker 1000.

It's been fun for awhile, but now I'm finding that Sub box to be more annoying that the amount that
I like the subs (hard to get my golf clubs in, hard to get my bicycle in and out. SOOO, can I just unplug
and unbolt the sub box and have the rest of the stereo work normally? I figure I'd buy one of those plastic
trays that fills the trunk to take up the space where the sub box is...

Does that effectively turn it into a Shaker 500?

My stereo has an option called "shaker" that's "on" or "off". I sorta assume that is just turning on/off the ones
in the trunk, and the ones in the doors are always on?

Any thoughts here? I doubt I'd sell the sub box, probably would put it back in during the winter when I'm
using the trunk less, maybe...

Thx,

Well it is really easy to take out.4 screws on the box and two plugs in the back (if I remember correctly). I had to take it out to replace my right rear shock. Take it out andtry some testing.
