New Skipper 500
Well, I took my car into the dealer today since my Shaker 500 was occasionally not able to read disks and doing some weird stuff. I also had this stereo replaced by the dealer last year...it was doing the same exact thing. The dealer knows me and were really cool. I got there at 2pm and by 2:30 I was done and on the road. When I got in the car I was suprised to see that the Shaker 500 that they put in this time must be an updated one from what I had because the **** and the Menu button is trimmed in the chrome accent like the rings around the vents. It's a small change, but I really like it.
I had the same issue with my Shaker 1000 system. They replaced it 3 times. Twice with rebuilt units and once with a brand spanking new one...result was the same....disc skipping and not reading disc. Sometimes it won't take a disc or eject one. I finally got fed up and pulled it out and installed a Pioneer Avic-D3 instead.
That's what I want to do, but mine wasn't doing it THAT often and I only drive it on the weekends. I figure I'll see if these new ones are better. When the warranty is up I'll get a quality unit like the AVIC. They did have an AVIC sitting at the dealership on the counter. I thought about telling them to just throw that in. I just hate to spend the $$$ on the AVIC when it could go towards gears or the SC.
