I have had my shifter for all of 3 months now and I have a problem where it is splitting from teh bottom. I have 3 cracks going from teh bottom to about halfway around the ball at noon, 3 and 6 if you are looking from teh bottom. Is this a common occurance??? Dont know that I am going to waist 35 bucks on another one if its going to do the same thing. Initially I thought it was from something I did mounting it...too tight possibly, but that just doesnt look like its the problem.

Idk, I put mine on tight as hell and no problems. I think it's a quality issue. I havnt been real impressed by Hurst. I've had 2 shifters and it still isnt 100%

 

ask ur girlfriend if when u grab her **** its to hard or a grip.. if so that explains it..

My firt thought would be mis-threaded or overtightened. Next would be part quality then if it happens again I would say damned son.... Lay off the 'roids! LOL

 

This is weird, because it almost seems like as if you stole all the words out of my mind and made the post up for me. I have had the same problem on my Hurst ball. If you take it off the shaft and look at it upside down, from the thread I have 3 cracks going about halfway up the ball at 12, 4, & 8, almost like a Benz emblem. We got 2 setd and put both sets on our 2 cars in the same day. The yellow car ball is pitting and has the cracks and the one on the black car is perfect. I also thought of it being overtightened, but we did both cars at the same time and I tightened both cars myself. So I cant figure it out. But after reading this its gotta be a quality issue.

 

dude i got the same exact problem after about three months.

 

One of us needs to call Hurst and see what they know about the problem and if they are aware of it, wht they have done to fix it. I think anyone who has this problem needs to chime in and give their description of problem and maybe we can email this thread to Hurst Customer Service. Im sure they'll help considering their great product history and reputation. Im going to get a picture of mine and post.

Mine is fine, but it has yellowed maybe from Hand Oils or something I bought it used....
