ORIGINAL: Ebein

I would talk it over with your dad, offer to pay your way to a performance driving school if he will let you
get a GT, that will cost you a few grand but will put your dads mind at ease that you can handle the cars
power. You still have to show prove to him that you can be mature with 300 horses under the hood.

Just my .02$. BTW I have a 3 and 5 yo boys and they wont get a fast car untill they can prove to me
they can be mature with them AND they have gone to a High Performance Drivers Ed.

Anyone know how much it costs for the special drivers training and if there is anything in Cali? I hvae hat fast cars for a long time.. but I would still like to see what I can do with good training.. maybe teach this old dog a new trick.. also use the mustang.. haha.. no tricks in crown vics!!

Yeah man trust me, unless your family is loaded and ur rich, its gonna be hard for u to afford a brand new gt at ur age, espicially sine ur in college. if u werent in college, id say ud be fine(cept insurance will still wreck you)but u are and take it from me and rockthepony, its NOT as easy as it sounds...hell im tryin to save up for a used 2002-ish GT, and thats gonna be hard enough. If u want the looks of the 06, get the v6, if u want the power, get a 99-04 Gt....if u get a 06 gt, even if u CAN afford it, ur not gonna have any money to drive or get food, go out or nothing.....so just think about that man...good luck

==One day your parents might decide that it's their car and you can drive their pos instead. Which is basicly what happend to me.==

Typical teen-view-of-the-world. You don't suppose this had anything to do with the fact that you got two tickets within a few months of getting a brand new hot rod do you? I imagine the conversation went something like "You've gotten two tickets, you are not showing the responisibility we had hoped, our insurance is now through the roof and we're afraid that if you keep driving like this you're going to end up dead so we're taking the car from you for a while." But of course what you heard was "blah blah blah blah blah we're taking the car from you blah". Like 99% of the roadblacks life throws at us, you can either learn from your mistakes or you can throw a pity party. I suggest the former.

I guess ya'll can tell I'm a parent- LOL!

a bird in hand (V6)
is worth two in bush (V8)

Be happy he is willing to help you get one.
You say you sold a car for the money you have, who paid for it? did he help you with it?

My fist car I purchased for $50, a big 4 door polara, I had to work on it to get it to run, please spare me the sob story of "he will only let you have the 2005 V6"
It is a fine auto.
I have a 17 yr old son, and he will get a 79 jeep cj 5, when he puts out the effort to help me get it to run. Anything short of that, he can walk or buy his own, on his own.
