Leather Interior Problem. Need help!
Actually the only part that is not vinyl is the inner most part of the seats down the center. Front and back.
And it is happening on the inner AND outer parts of the front seats.

Pretty sure the entire front of the seat is leather. I have seen other posts that show the leather cracking and the dealer replaced it. The sides and back of the front seats are definitely vinyl. Like I said .. I think the entire front surface of the seat is leather ... not just the insert.
Is the red coming off your seat on the sides and back? Or just the front surface. I have Red Leather and have been cleaning them monthly with both Mequire's and Turtle Wax and no red has ever come off of mine.
Also ... do you wear shorts or no shirts in the car? Get in after working out? Maybe the sweat has broken down the dye?

The perforated center part of the front seats AND the solid areas that surround it are all real leather. In other words, theENTIRE SEATING AREA of the front seat is leather, the only vinyl on the fronts is the side portions that you don't sit on and the seat back that faces the rear seats.
It is coming off on the sides and some in the middle I believe. None on the back side that I have noticed.
As far as shorts well... not really. My girl wears them sometimes but not alot and she has'nt been getting in and out
after a workout or anything.
Then again it is on both seats and not just the passenger side so I don't see this being the culprit because she does not drive it.
I have heard of a couple of people with S197's having this prob with red interior but I can't find any TSBs on it.
They claim they got theirs replaced.
I will certainly fight to get mine replaced as well.
If that does not work... I don't know what in the hell to do. Suggestions?

By the way. I had my girl's niece one time take a black magic marker to my back seats in the past.
I took it to a trim shop and the guy used some sort of spray on paint or something for vinyls and plastics.
It matched up pretty good (in fact perfect) and has'nt come off yet.
I still have the can of stuff he used actually. He let me keep it.
But since from what I understand the parts I am dealing with now are leather.... I dunno if this stuff would be a good idea.
Especially since people sit more in the front than I have passengers in the back. (hardly ever in the back)
I just hope my dealer with come through for me on this. If notI will fight it hard. Because this is really B.S.
But if all else fails I need something to do so that this can be fixed AND does notgetWORSE with time.
I need to be able to condition the leather so it wont crack and not have to choose between that and taking off the colorand like I said I was not rubbing hard on it.
I just used a tad bit of pressure. a TAD.

I didn't have that problem with my red leather either until I used Lexol. Before that I used Meguiar wipes or neats foot oil. The owners manual states that the seats have a protective coating on them, maybe Lexol takes it off. I'll be doing it again in a week or 2 since I'm going to Mustang Week and willuse the neats foot oil again. I'm thinking Lexol might be too harsh. Mine don't get very dirty so I just wipe them down with a damp cloth first, then massage the oil in by hand. Anyone else have problems with this?
