Default Wheel/Tire Fitment Question...

Hey folks, I’m looking at swapping out my stock wheels with something different. If I do, I want to keep the same times since they only have about 5k miles on them. The tires I have on the car are the ones that came with the car 235/50ZR18s. The wheels I have I think are 8.5 inches wide while the wheels I want are 9 inches wide. Would my stock tires work ok on a slightly wider rim or would I need to swap out tires if I got those 9 inch wide rims?

According to the tire calculator (http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp) the answer is no, 235/55/18 rim widths are 6.5 - 8.5

He said 235/50/18 not 235/55/18. But the answer is still the same, no 235/50/18 6.5"-8.5"

1/2 an inch really isnt going to be a major problem, but it does go against the recommended size by a half an "

Hmmm.. thanks for the info guys. I'd really like to get the wider rims, but if they'd neccessitatenew tires I'll probably just get rims that fit the stock tires.

I'm not sure I could wait for another 25-30k miles.

To speed up the process, I'm afraidI'd be doing lots of burnouts...

Hmmmm. Tires wear out faster than rims (unless you curb them).
Stick with what ya got now and when its time for new tires, maybe
you will have enough saved up for 9" wide rims and the proper tires.
I just stuck 255/45-18s BFG G-Force KDW-2s on the 18x8.5 50mm
offset stock bullits and they are super looking.
