Currently i have an 05 v6 mustang. i have been thinking about a C5 (probably 98-02) corvette or a 06 mustang gt. The prices between these 2 cars are pretty comparable. HP is 345 vs 300 respectively but how do they really match up side by side? I am going to look at the mustang tomorrow and take it for a test drive and run some numbers with the dealership but i am also planning on looking at corvettes next weekend. the mustang gt has 44K miles whereas the vettes i have looked at are usually at least 60-100K miles. am i looking on taking on a bunch of mechanical trouble with the corvette?

obviously i posted this on a mustang forum but i was hoping there would be some objective input too.

 

Get a z06

 

if you dont need a back seat get the corvette...its lighter, handles better, and has more HP.

the pros of the mustang is that it will have less milage, that doesnt mean less problems. if it was up to me and i didnt need the back seat i would get the corvette and get an extended aftermarket warranty.

 

y do people do that? he asked between 2 cars that are in his price range and then you go throw something that not even relavant to the thread.....but with the c5s the z06 was not that big of a difference like it is with the c6s. its a 100hp difference with teh c6s, i think it was a 30-40hp difference in the c5s

 

Umm...I could be in the minority here...but being this a Mustang site and all...I would go for the GT!!!

If you have greased back hair and a gold chain, then get the C5.... Corvettes has a really bad stgma atach to them for some reason, poor man's sportscar I guess?

 

At car shows I've hadcorvette owners tell me they had more fun driving mustangs than the vett. it's 2 seats or 4, up to you.
