Default gas pedal & starting question

Does pushing down on the gas pedal while the key is on do anything to the car??? I was installing some pedal covers, had the radio on. Afterwards tried to start it, it wont start. Battery gauge is in the good area. I'll probably try jumping it, but was wondering if pressing the gas pedal to the floor affects it some way???

You probably flooded your engine. With fuel injected cars, anytime the key is on, the fuel pump is also on... hence, anytime the gas pedal is pressed, fuel is injected into the engine. If you let the sit for an hour or so, you should be able to start it. You can also try pushing the accelerator all the way to the floor, then turning the key to start it. I've had luck with that technique when starting a flooded vehicle. Goodluck.

If it's flooded, just do what 06VALimer said and floor it. The computer kills the injectors if it sees full throttle voltage when cranking. Be ready to take your foot off when it does start though, or it might hit the limiter.

I was going to say it would be crazy of the engine management on a drive by wire car to even fire the injectors with the key just on (not cranking), but I turned my key on and even after waiting a few minutes I can hear a bunch of whirring when I move the pedal, so maybe that's what it does.

Thanks for input guys. It was flooded and also the battery died. Put my fluke meter to the battery, cranked at 10vdc. So I let it sit, jumped it, started with no issues. The radio was on for only 20 mins, looks like a new battery in the near future. I didnt think you could "flood" a car anymore, but I guess with the key on, the fuel pumpwould bebe on also. Thanks for the fast help guys!!
