I had really bad water spots on my alloy gt and I used meguires scratch-x to get them out. I know its really abrasive, but i left the spots untreated for a long time and nothing else I tried would get the spots off. It works on windows too.

I DONT MIND WASHING MY CAR ITS DRYING IT WITH A CHAMIS I DONT LIKE IS THERE ANY SOAP THAT DOESNT LEAVE ANY WATER SPOTS WITHOUT DRYING BY HAND THANKS
the OP is bypassing 1 critical step. you must dry your car after you wash it or you will get water spots. or anytime it gets wet, you will get water spots.

well hopefully i dont even have to do that anymore. i just bought a water deionization system from spotlesswatersystems.com for 350.00 it guarantees that you can rinse your car and walk away without drying it..........

Yes... those are great systems! You could get a water softener for the whole house and your toys.It would do the same thing however, the whole house would benefit from the soft water. Of course, I am making the assumption that you have a house. If not, then you have made the best alternative choice.

I quit washing my car at home...I just use the carwash now. $3 allows me to scrub the whole car with the brush...then move to the high pressure for the wheels and bugs...rinse it off and then go with that "spot free rinse".

A two mile trip home and the car is bone dry with not a spot to be found.

For $3 it is not worth dragging out all the paraphernalia. I can do the fine detailing back home in the garage.

Scrub with a brush? I must have fallen into the wrong thread I guess. Sorry for trying to enlighten anyone.

You scrub your car with a carwash brush??? Do you realize that brush could have been used on some guys 4x4 pick-up truck that was caked on with MUD?

+1...Don't use the carwash brush. You will scratch tha clear even if there is nothing leftover in the brush from previous use.

By the way using very fine steel wool and glass cleaner will get the water spotsoff of glass (glass only...not paint) and it will not scratch either. It does require a lot of rubbing but it works better than any other thing I have tried.

I must beg to differ... Try using a clay bar with plenty of soapy car wash water. then follow up with Stoner invisible glass cleaner. You will not be dissapointed. As for steel wool? That would be my last and final approach. Sorry dude.

Pick up some Optimum No Rinse from Juztang in the detailing section. You wash and dry the car in the time it takes to hand wash alone, the ONR has a bit of wax mixed in, it looks AMAZING, and you only have to use a gallon of water to wash the whole car.

I promise it is good stuff, look into it.
