CALIPER COVER!

RE: CALIPER COVER!
I did the Red Duplicolor Caliper kit on my Torch Red Steeda two weeksago. Actually only got the drivers side calipers done. I will do the passenger side this next week.
If you prep and clean them really, really good and apply plenty of coats of paint it fill in the little wholes and grain on them. Smooths out and looks good up close too! It did take like 6 hours to do them but then I am a little detailed oriented, so I was super careful and did coat after coat. I think I did 6 - 8coats.
I would worry about the heat factor with any covers. Plus would it trap the break dust some?

RE: CALIPER COVER!
Agreed, the more coats you apply, the smoother it will look. I put 4 coats on all four and it has a super glossy look. Today I purchased some soft brushes at an arts and craftsstoreand will apply a few more coats to get them smoother. I also pickedup a smaller brush for the tight and edge spots.
I still like the covers, but if I can get these things to look a bit more smoother I just may stick to the painted look.[/align]

Just to let the people know who didnt actually go to the website and read up on it, These caliper covers are NOT plastic, they are aluminum and they are NOT stuck on with glue or tape they are bolted on... so melting obviously will not be an issue and having these thing blown off on the highway will be highly unlikely unless you forget to screw them in

I just used the G2 epoxy paint on the calipers on my Trailblazer SS. I've seen some that didn't look very good, the difference is that I sanded mine smooth with a die grinder, then did the epoxy. I thought they came out pretty nice.
From what I've heard, the duplicolor crap doesn't hold up long, and starts to flake off. Not to mention the color isn't very good on them.
I'd definitely recommend the G2 epoxy. For the extra cost, it's completely worth it.
