Default What does this remote do??

I just bought an '05 Premium and it came with a remote that has one button and a picture of a key. When I hold the button down, the car beeps and then beeps again a couple seconds later. After the second beep the lights turn on as does the electronics inside and the radio and the key won't start the car when turned.

I assume this is some sort of security feature. But, I have set to see the lights/electronics turn off...

Is this right?

Actually that sounds like the same extrta remote that came with my new Lincoln truck. It's a remote start. Try holding the button down longer. If that doesn't work then take it back to the dealer, they missed something.

Really??

So you think when I was holding it down it was just enough to kick in the electric?

That's what mine does. It's a little smaller then the standard Ford key fob. The button has a key on it. If you look around you have a recieveing module somewhere in the car to get the signal. Most likely a small box with a antena sticking out either side.

Yep, it's a remote start. If holding it down doesn't work then take it to the dealer. It should start but the car steering and other things will be locked until you put the key in the ignition.

Just tried it and it didn't start. Electronics and eveything come up, but not the engine. I'll have the dealer look at it! Thanks!

Sometimes you have to press the button twice in order for factory remote starts to kick in...

I tried that. All the electronics kick on but no engine start.
