Default Anyone use a locking gas cap?

Does anyone here use a locking gas cap on their Mustang?

Which one did you buy? How well does it work?

Thanks!

Not on my stang, but on my 99 ranger. They are a must, since some folks around here are stealing gas...

I have a Stant locking cap on my '06. Works fine. A bit of a PITA to unlock, but better than loosing a tank of $4/gal gas. The scary think is that theives are now punching a hole with an ice pickin the tank of cars with locking gas caps.

I think it would be good to have one, not only to protect from thieves, but also against vandalism.

They are next to useless. They can be broken off with a pair of pliers, or if you stick a screwdriver under the flange and just give a little leverage it will unscew like it had the key in it. The old metal one's from the 70's are almost indestuctible, the plastic new one's are more for a false sense of security for the owner. Besides with the saddlebag gas tank in the middle of the car, I'd guess that it would be close to impossibleto siphon gas from the filler neck. And a Mustang seems like it would be a pain in the @ss to crawl under to puncture the tank; too low. If I was a gas thief I'd be under one of those huge 25-30 gallon suv tanks.

Ford recommends their own locking gas cap.

So you're thinking it's not even worth it?

it helps keep people honest, if they really want your gas they will get it. But if there is a locking gas cap on there they probably just pass it by for a better target
