09 mustang?
Ford is clearly moving away from the retro look:

I bought my 08 beacuse I wanted the 197. Never likes the previous generation...and wont like the next either. This is my car I am sticking with for...maybe ever...

huuummmm over 300hp twinturbo V6....
Does that mean the new 5.0 will be over 400?... It might have to if it wants to compete with the camaro's and challenger'snumbers.
Seems that our S197 will need to be blown to keep up.
I still love my car

ive seen some nice spy pics of the 210, the interior looked nice from what you could see. i may just use the rest of 08 and 09 to pay some more down on the lightning and use that for a trade in maybe
The new design is supposed to look a lot more like the GT500. So, if you like the GT500 look, then 2010 should be up your alley.
The 2009 Mustang will have an abbreviated model run of only 45k units because the 2010 will be here in Spring of 2009.

That means the new Camaro will compete with the outgoing S197 for only a few months.
I'm not worried much about the new Camaro. It looks like performance of the SS will be close to the last GTO.
The specs for the new Camaro will be revealed in full on Monday. The leaked specs look like a 296 hp and 270 lbs ft for the V6 weighing in at 2700 lbs. The SS will weight 3900 lbs with 416 hp with about 408 lb ft.
No surprise there. That was what everyone was expecting. I would assume that Ford will be close to 400 hp with the 5.0 liter. Although, the current Mustang GT seems like it should be able to hold it's own.
Don't worry about the base Camaro. Our V8 Mustangs will be blowing the base car off the road. We'll have 50 ft lb torque advantage and weigh 250 lbs less than the base car. Even the SS should only run about 13.3 or so at best.
I'm thinking the V6 will probably be about $22k and the SS will start at about $28k with no options. Mustang will be cheaper once more and will outsell the Camaro like it always has.

Honestly, I'm thinking my 8 year old Corvette should still be faster and handle better than the new SS. Stock for stock, that is. Even C5 autos have been known to run 13.3-13.5 bone stock.
Which makes you wonder why a die hard Chevy fan would even buy a new Camaro instead of a used C6, which will cost about the same as an optioned out SS. You gotta really want that backseat! (The Corvette will probably get better mileage, too)
I give the Camaro about three years until it's demise. It's too late to market, ugly, overpriced and overweight with limited appeal (women will not want one, too over-the-top macho). Pretty much the GTO all over again.

Anyone hear about the 6.2L V8 with 400+ hp for the 2010 stangs? I read it in a car and driver mag.

A 6.2L will be heavy and exspensive to produce.
They can do the same thing with a 5.0 and have be lighter, better gas mileage, and cheap to produce.
If there will be a 6.2Lit will be a Cobra but I am not beting on that either.
