Default OEM HIDs

Are the Ford/Saleen OEM HIDs just OK? I want to make sure, before I drop $1000/900 on them or go the aftermarket route.

I would never trust a 100 dollar set of HID's. Quality is not cheap for HID's, I had a 04Steeda Focus that I swapped out the stock lights for a set of HID's and I paid almost 1k for them. Ironicly I was in the Netherlands and went to a fewGerman Ford dealers to try and get a set and they wanted even more. Hella is the leading maker of lights in Europe and Itried from them for a factory set and with the exchange rate at the time would have cost around 1300 US. Of course on a Focus you get the entire headlight housing and not just the light and ballast.

$900-$1000 is the Ford Price. Try going to any ford dealer and pricing them.

I have the OEM HID's on my 08 GT, and I'm not so sure they are worth the $525 option sticker price. I have not driven a non HID Mustang at night, but my guess is there won't be a huge difference in lumination. I had no choice in the option since I bought from dealer stock. The GM at the dealership where I bought my car is my brothers next door neighbor, so I had met him socially before my purchase. I told him at the time I was buying my car that $525 as a headlight option was crazy, and he didn't have a comeback.
I would want to see a a side by side (night time) comparison between the two before spending $900 to a $1000 on this upgrade.

get the OEM ones, they look classier. not HID bulbs stuck in reflector housings.

worth the extra money.
