Default Faded Paint????????

Just took off my bodyside mouldings. They came with the car and although looked lame, were practical. However once I put on the Cervinis side scoops I knew it was time for the mouldings to go.

My car is a screaming yellow 06 GT vert with 2000 miles. It has rarely been driven and always garaged. After I took the bodyside mouldings off and cleaned the area, there was a very clear strip where the paint looked darker. I cleaned off any tape residue and even waxed the area, but the strip is still evident.

Is it possible that my base coat as faded that much or do you think the clear coat has discoloured? What can I do (if anything)?

I should mention that the darker strip is subtle. You have to look twice to see it, but it's definitely there.

Sometimes, the chemical reaction of the 3M tape glue will discolor the clear.
This happens mostly when things are applied on a fresh paint, like the next day or so.
It's well OK to the touch, or even buffin', but it's still too soft.
Solvents are still trying to come out within 30 days of the paint job and with today's worse quality paint (thanks to EPA idiots), you have to put all chances on your side.
