ORIGINAL: Local Yokel

I am FI and im looking at the 4:10's myself. I have the 3:55's now and since its just a weekend car/track car I dont mind the higher rpm's on the highway since it doesnt see a ton of it. I want the car to launch hard at the track on the ET streets. I cut a 1.74 60' last year in Illinois and this year in Cali the best I could cut was a 1.86 60', both times launching at 4800 RPM. These cars are heavy and need all the gear we can throw at them it appears ...
I know a guy who is FI (supercharged), auto, and has 4.10s. The car is his daily driver, but he is running E.T streets. I am not sure his 60' times, but his best 1/4 mile run is 11.47 at 115. His corrected time at sealevel is 11.12 at 116.3.

I like my 4.10s. I like the way my exhaust sounds on the highway just cruising at 70mph. I always floor it under the bridges just to hear it echo

I couldn't do that with my 3.31s without downshifting. Not to mention i get off the link QUICK. I was gettin 2.0 60fts with my 3.31s launching at like 4k. I need to hit up the track asap to see what these 4.10s do. I'd be happy if i cut a 1.8 [8D]

Yeah i know. First time i tried launching them was when i raced my buddies gto. Did like a 3k dump and bounced off the rev limiter like 4 times. Didn't even know it.

The outcome :

Gears are probably going to be the next mod after I lower the car. I'll need bigger tires on the back for real thenI do plenty of highway driving with mine so 3.73s are going to be a defident...especially when I get 550 rwhp outta that Whipple I've got[8D]

With practice, he will cut his 60' times. With my 3.55 my fastest 60' time was 2.313. With 4.10s my fastest is 1.9.

When I got my 3.73's installed, my shop said , just don't "nail it" for the 1st 500 miles, go easy...if you can hold out that long!!!

I mentioned heat cycles, he laughed and said "just drive the damn thing for Christ's sake, only don't go nuts for 500 miles, thats all, you'll be fine".

1,500 miles later, no problem!
