Default wheel offset?

hey guys,

i want to get the 5zigen FN01RC 18x9.5 and i don't know if i should do +35 offset or +45 offset, and what tire sizes would i be able to fit upfront with that size? my car is going to be set up for auto x / road course.

Or for any tire that size, such as 18x9 +30, how would that fit on my stang?

I have those rims in 17x9 with +35 offset. Right now I have 255/40 on them. Plenty of clearance, no issues. Next Im putting 274/40 on and I dont anticipate any issues, Ill know in the next couple weeks. Doesn't specifically address your question regards 18s but its close.

With that size wheel you are obviously not running F stock. So, if I were you, go with bigger wheels. 18x10, 18x10.5, or 18x11 all the way around. As for tires, the key is to get 315/30/18 at all four corners. If you can't then all the F body GM cars will have more tire.

I too am trying to find the perfect combo of wheel and tire for autocross.

wheel size would optimally be 18x11 or 17x11, but there are no wheels out there in those sizes. Offsets would be +50, because you can then use spacers to gain any clearence you need with the struts or control arms. The fenders are what I am worried about.

Another thing I thought of and wanted to mention. If you get into tracking the car with any regularity you will want/need brake cooling ducts. Keep this in mind when selecting a wheel/tire combo - the brake ducts limit your width else you will be rubbing the tubing. I dont know how wide you can go. Like I said earlier, with 255/40s I have no issues. This week I am putting on 275s, I doubt they will be a problem but any wider than that....dont know, could be an issue.
