Well I just experienced my first wheel hop with my stang, NOT GOOD!!! Let me paint a picture for you, just had 3:73 installed, ran like three heat cycles so far, so I'm sitting at a stop sign, I look left...nobody, I look right...nobody, so I pork it. I rode out 1st gear to like 4500, shifted to 2nd, cut the tires loose, and what I heard was the most horrific bang I have ever heard. I thought the drive shaft had fallen out, this loud noise felt like I did a Dukes of Hazard jump and landed square on the pavement. I thoroughly checked the bottom of the car and everything looks good, I spent 45min under it. After this experience I drove the car for about 20min and didn't hear anything unusual. Was it more then one bang or Just one big bang. If it was a lot of small ones getting progressively closer in frequency as you accelerated then yes wheel hop is the problem if its one loud bang typically not wheel hop. Look at BMR fab they have a anti wheel hop kit. Its on my list after wheels and tires and some BMR lowering springs. I would try to not keep doing that to the car because its basically shock loading the axels, center section, drive shaft all the drive line stuff and I guarntee you will find the weak point in the drive line.

 

It was one bang and I immediately got out of it, so not sure what would happen if I had continued. I think it was a combination of wheel hop and my 3" exhaust pipes which run over the rear diff...Thoughts?

 

Lol, man Ive seen my dash shake so bad I thought it was going to come off. Upper control arm, lowers, and relocation brackets took care of the hop. It is very violent Ill say, especially on stickies.

 

Yea first time I experienced it I was trying to do a burnout and I thought I destroyed something. It is VERY violent and is a series of loud bangs and its just not good haha.
