Why does aftermarket always=headache?
Best advice for the future...stay stock...warranty remains intact with no hassles.
BTW, I remember some idiot using a foam brush at a do-it-yourself pressure washer station and he didn't check the brush. The previous user had left an S.O.S steel wool pad stuck in the brush...just imagine how he paint looked afterwards.

You could cut the stock antenna to your desired height and make it look like it came like that stock!! Well thats what im gonna do!! I dont really like the buggy whip!!

I know what you mean about aftermarket installs......the rotors I ordered for the car? Drove me absolutely crazy getting installed.... (not by me, of course)....but nonetheless it was a challenge.

If you didnt know now ill let you all in on a secret...... you can cut your antenna! all you do is take a cats claw (nail puller) and put it on the *** on the end of your attena and grab a hammer and give the claw a wack.. away from the antenna.... and do it in a small room or into your toolbox drawer as i did because that little baby is gonna fly off! and go god knows where. find the ball.. cut your antenna to whatever length you want any length really!!! i cut mine to even with the roof and then you may need to re-drill you ball to make it fit back into the antenna and the crazy glue it back on. you may wanna touch it up with black paint. and walla SHORTIE ANTENNA ...
its ok you can send me your 20 bucks

dude, your complaint about a shorty antenna is kinda weak.
all my mods went in w/out a hassle. sure some take more effort and adjusting than others. and i got my share of woes w/ the SC, but i know the deal. modding is a test of patience, trial and error, research then more trial and error. that's what modding is. if you want something to work right out of the box, then keep your stang stock. if you want something more than stock, then get ready for a few headaches. it just comes w/ the territory. if it were easy, we'd all have 600+ hp stangs running every day on the street, but that's not reality.

When it comes to aftermarket parts, there's one addage that usually holds true: You get what you pay for. When you bought your shorty antenna, did you buy by reputation, quality, or just the cheapest one you could find?
An antenna is a fairly simple item. Did you check with the dealership and see what a new one would cost? I'll bet it was a heck of a lot more than you paid for the aftermarket parts.
Other aftermarket parts are the same - headers, mufflers, distributers, radios, etc. Everything. Spend the big bux and get good high quality parts. You really can't afford to buy the cheap stuff, it's too expensive.
Even with good quality aftermarket parts, it seems like there's always some kind of fitment issue. It fit, but you need to clearance this corner. Or you need a longer bolt. Or a lock nut. or some little thing that complicates the install or the operation. Get used to it, that's the way it always has been and always will be.
Close yours, click your heels together three times, and repeat after me - There's no such thing as bolt on. There's no such thing as bolt on. There's no such thing as bolt on.

The material the inferior 'shorty' antenna was constructed from
was not up to snuff as the nice flexable, hard to bend and make
it stay stainless steel with just the right make up to make to
strong, flexable and resistant to taking a bend Ford OEM 31" long antenna.
The aftermaket 'shorty' you had that bent when you hit it with
a brush (why, why, why) and broke when you tried to straighten it
could have been constructed from aluminum as far as we know.
Its not that it is 'aftermarket' it that it was a cheap POS to start with
and had no place on a Stang. Good riddens to the easily bent,
unstraightenable without breaking, aftermarket POS. Forever
rest in peices.

I want to take mine completely off but then I'd have a hole.
I don't need it since I haven't listened to an AM/FM radio in years and don't plan on it ever again. CDs for me! (or ipod but not in the car yet).
My exhaust is the best radio.
