Default Jlt ii

i have a quick question about the JLT II intake, is the plastic housing around the filter really that functional? and do you think i would have any problem with water getting in to it without it? the reason i ask is that i saw one for sale on here but it does not come with it, would i be wasting money if i bought it without having it?

you can get a new heatshield from jlt's website for like $25....You could probably get away without it. I'm pretty sure the original jlt didn't have one.

It really does work to keep engine heat away from the filter.

It may not look like much but the difference in intake temperatures with and without the shroud will be pretty substantial.

this is a quote from jlt's website:
This is designed to block off the filter from the high under hood temps of the 2005-07 Mustang GT. It surrounds the sides of the filter, but is open on the bottom to allow the cool, outside air to get to the filter when the car is at speed. Data logging shows that under hood temps drop fast at speeds above 25mph, so this shield will help block the heat at idle and low speed, but not block off the air coming in from under the car at speed.

Note: This is included with a purchase of a 05+ GT Cold Air Kit.

the main thing i was worried about was water getting up to the intake, but as they stte it will help with the temps, so i guess im just gonna have to buy one for them
