Default convertible trouble

I notice that the convertible top is pulling away from the rear window on my 05 stang. Anyone have this trouble and know how to fix it without replacing the top?

Can you get a good picture of what's happening? I'm not sure I fully understand...

The pictures are hard to see but it looks like the glue that holds the top to the window is becoming unglued - thanks

For some reason I had my mind thinking you meant the rear quarter windows. Those pictures at least help identify the area in question now. If that window is coming loose there isn't going to be much of anything you can do. You'll want to take it to a shop that specializes in convertible tops. I'm assuming, of course, your warranty is up. If not, take it to Ford for warranty work.

You can try to reseal it yourself with silicone, but quite honestly it won;t last and may only cause you more headache in the long run.

topdown, I have a 92 Cutlass conv. that the rear window started seperating. Once it started it won't stop, was told that the window is "heat bonded" to the top. It's hard to tell from the pictures whats happening. On my Cutlass you can replace the rear window section without replacing the whole top. I never checked out a Mustang Conv. , but it looks like the whole top may need to be replaced to do the window, may be wrong.

It's tough to tell by the pictures, but the backseat in the image pegs it as a S197 Mustang. So it is a single piece top.

Yep. The Ford TSB states to replace the top. Last I looked it was around $1,700 to $2K. No guarantee that it will not happen again - it is a 05 only three years old (out of warranty of course)! Rather use the money toward a cold air or supercharger kit .

Tried some Gorilla glue on spots last night. Seems to be holding pretty well.

Keep an eye on your convertible tops – no way of telling if this is a latent defect in the top.
