Default shift light help!!! please

ok, so i ordered 3 gauges and a shift light from glow shift i finally got them and installed everything, mounted the shift light and wired everything up to the ignition, ground, and then the problems started. the instructions said that i had to conect the shift ligth to the negative coil plug on standard ignitions, and to the tach signal on the electronic ignition module on electronic ignitions. since i don't know where the electronic ignition module or tach signal are in my car, well, i just hoped for the best and conected the shift light to the negative cable of the coil......... it didn't work, since its a digital shift light that reads the rpms, rpms just read from 98-120 when i was not reving, and i reved up to like 4,000-5,000 and rpms just read from 500-600. can somebody help me out and tell me where the electronic ignition module, or tach signal are? or how do i make this work?

How about a link to the glow shift installation and set-up instructions.
You seem to need to adjust it from the factory default of 4 cylinders
to 8 cylinders.

this are the online instructions: http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/pdfin...tachometer.pdf , i got a little different diagram with the shft light. to set it from 4-6-8 cylinder its easy, on the back it has 3 options 4-6-8 and you just set the button on your the number of your cylinders, i set it on 8 before any wireing what so ever

Is this the DPSS shift light from Autometer? I'm going to be installing mine this week, if I run into any problems/solutions, I'll let you know...I'm hoping to take lots o' pictures to make this dummyproof for the next guy!

AHH, I'm too slow! Anywho, I'll still do the pics/writeup, the wires still need to be attached to somewhere on all these different models...

its almost the same, just that mine looks more of a shift ligth and you can't mount it on a gauge pod. but its about 200 bucks cheaper

Looks to me like you need the "Tach Adapter" they speak of in the instructions.
