Mustang 2008 pricing
#23
Ok now I feel completely abused! I did my research before going too (well at least I thought so) and from all the reviews on all the Mustang forums I came across said that you shouldn't be paying any more than a 19,000 for a '08 off the lot anymore...I even told the dealership that when they wouldn't come down...I was willing to pay 19,500 + taxes but they said they can't do more...2 dealerships told me that actually...it's bull****...maybe Canadian pricing is different too. I'm taking a guy with me next time...thanks for all your answers. They were very helpful! At least now I know I can still afford one...

I'm going to have to say... save your money and wait for the 10's. Ford is keeping them under wraps until November and it's looking to be an all-out price war with GM and Mopar in the muscle car game.

Yea you being up in Canada changes everything. My roomate sold his 02 eclipse gts to some canadian because cars cost more money up there. That canadian flew over 2000 miles to come get it in Tucson, Az not only because of the price, but also because he knew it wouldnt have rust on it..I havent a clue why cars cost more up there, but the advice I was giving you was based on you live here. Still I hope everything works out!!

I dont think 22,000 BEFORE taxes is a not a good deal. I am a car salesperson in Tucson, Az. I work at Jim Click. I specialize in Nissans, But obviously since im on this site I drive a 08 Mustang GT. Dealerships know that the market sucks right now and if it means taking a what they call a "loser" deal (where we sell a car under invoice), i.e. invoice is what we pay for the car. The dealership get a kick back from say the Ford motor company because they are still moving units. That salesperson knows he can sell you that car for invoice or very close to it. Do your homework before you go in there again. Print out paper that show MSRP, and invoice, and ask the guy to make a deal. Keep in mind if you want extra stuff like premium package and other stuff you will have to pay MSRP for that stuff. Ask him about HUGE rebates from Ford being that the 09 will be coming out if not out already. He knows that his manager must GET RID of as many 08 as he can. Last piece of advice, even though you must be firm and stand your ground be NICE to the salesperson and or manager if you need to talk to him. When people are rude and mean to us thats when we dont help them out and rip thier heads off (over charge). You will catch way more bees with honey. I just sold an 80 year man a 09 Nissan Murano yesterday, I knew I couldve giving him 4000 off but what we did was show him first pencil at full price, and all he asked for was 2000 off. Done deal and he paid all cash mind you. Its a crazy business.
Its nice to hear it from the other side. It seems dealers "never miss a good deal" meaning they will start out very high & when they take off a couple thousand, you feel as if you are getting a great deal. Deception is their game. Another thing, is invoice acutally what the dealer pays for the car. I dont think so because that number would be broadcasted like the invoice numbers floating around. I wonder exactly how much a dealer pays for new mustangs?
