This is not the 1960's!
Using premium is for cars that require it. Your stock Mustang requires just 87 octane gas. You've wasted at least 20 cents per gallon for how long?

With the price of gas these days, why waste any money on putting 93 in your stock GT? My car only gets regular no reason to put in what it does not need.
All oil companies have their brand of "detergents" etc....... I believe it is more of a marketing tool than anything else. All gasoline has standards to meet when it leaves the factory.

you not really throwing your money away by using 93 oct it burns cleaner there for you engine gets less cabon build up and an extra 15 cents a gal isnt that big of a diff

Your right about that my dad works at chemical plants where they make gas, and 93 oct is acctually better in the long run but not but that much, you can get the same thing buy buying a 10dollar bottle of fuel injector cleaners such as b12 but once you add that to it about every 6months it comes out to the same price as just buying 93oct. so your still spending the same amount of money if you want less build up in your engine i would just go with 93oct.

How common is adaptive tuning as a standard option these days? I know a couple guys, one with a WRX and one with a Suzuki SX4, and both tell me they get a noticeable benefit with higher octane fuels. Sounds to me like an adaptive tune must be standard on their cars.

the only i car that i have heard of having an adaptive tune is the new bullitt
