Default 1/4 mile times question

I just ran my bone stock 06 Mustang GT auto last night. I was a little disapointed with my times I ran a 14.60, 14.63 and a 14.53 all at a little over 95 mph. I was really hoping to be in the high 13's even a 13.99. I turned the traction control off and had overdrive off my best run was leaving the line from idle. The track conditions seemed really good it was about 64 degrees no wind about 60% humidity. The track elevation is around 1,890ft. The only problem I had was leaving the line it seemed like a slight delay before it would really take off. Would a tune and CAI get me to the 13sec zone or is it going to take more? Thanks Dave

those times seem rather slow.
Are your wheels stock size? Are you burning rubber?
Are you shifting it yourself? Don't.
With an auto you should be having better times, even at the slightly high elevation.

as stated above a CAI, tune, & 373 would do the trick!

Check what rear gears your car has, it may have very tall gears like 273, which are great for top end & gass miliage but not for that whole shot. My first time at the track I ran a 14.0 @ 101mph (car completely stock & stock wheels). I have a 5sp with 355's in the rear. I probably should have run a 13.9 or 13.8 with that mph, but I go to the track 2 or 3 times a year, so practice also plays a big part.

Good luck & have fun, remember practice, technique, experience really plays a large part!

Practice Practice Practice then watch your times drop. A cai tune and gear would really help out maybe even a full second or more. The elevation is a bit high but nothing outrageous.

practice...driving skills, definitely get cai and tune.....as mentioned, check to see what gears you have.....don't understand why at dead idle, your car ran the best.

As far as the gears go..2.73 no way, wasn't an option. They're probably 3.31. At that altitude and humidity, the DA would be around 2800. NHRA corrected puts you at 14.1 at 98mph. As far as practice, none is really needed with the auto...as he does NOT have a stall converter w/DR's. It doesn't sound like he's spinning out of the hole either, so no feathering the gas either.

You definitely need a CAI & tune. That'll take off .4-.5 in ther 1320 (it did for me anyways). Then gears, which should drop you another .2

I'm at over 5000' (DA 6350') and I ran the following:
completely stock 15.1
CAI/tune 14.65 (set to shift at 5900)
CAI/tune 14.36 (shifting at 6200)
CAI/tune & 3.73 14.22 (spinning sideways in 2nd) likely a 14.0-14.1 w/o the spin.

I live in the Northwest ( near Spokane, Wa ) our track was closed down last year due to investors and manger problems seems as no one except manger was making money. Property went into receivership and County purchased property. Well anyway The Spokane Pro Gas ***. leased the strip for 4 weekends the 27 th being the last weekend.
Any way this is my best times.
It is an auto with 3.31 gears
JLT CAL, Brenspeed tune otherwise complety stock

First weekend out, full tank of gas
Reaction: .2910
60 ft: 2.1631
1/4 Mile: 13.5021
MPH: 103.17

This weekend 1/4 tank of gas, Rear tires at 28 PSI, fronts at 60 psi
Reaction: .1069
60 ft: 2.1120
1/4 Mile: 13.2879
MPH: 106.20

Never did run the car stock, but a tune will make you SMILE

Thanks everyone for replying. Yes, I thought that my runs seemed a little slow. I've run out there many times with my other car a 75 mustang so I'm not a newbe at drag racing. I think my biggest problem was leaving the line when it would take just a sec before it felt like it would really go. My best run was 60' 2.267, 330 6.218, 1/8 9.430, 1000 12.175 and 1/4 at 14.53 at 95.10. I have the stock gears 3.31 stock tires with no traction problems. I was really disapointed and hearing everyone else's times in the 13's makes me even more jealous. Did I happen to get one of the lower horsepower engines?
