if you buy it back that means it's considered a complete loss. You will then have a salvage or repaired title in the event that you ever want to sell it (there is that possibility) it will be difficult to sell as most want "clean titles

An 07 GT totaled?
It takes roughly about $17/18K in damage to total that car...
That means you have major structural damage (frame etc...), believe me.
Did you get any kind of estimate from your Insurance company, and did you read it?

Yep, they have it at 18k right now and they think there might be 2k-3k more that they can't see. I have 42k into the hole car including price of car.

If you don't want your car totaled, pull out all your receipts so you can bump the value of the car accordingly to what you put in it.

Since it's the other Insurance fault, they'll adjust.
If it was your own Insurance, they wouldn't bump the value, unless all your mods were included in your premiums.
(USAA would honor the mods though...)

Anyway, this could be a great occasion to do all kinds of appearing mods or change the look you had before the wreck.

Good luck regardless...

If you don't buy it back, then how are you going to salvage the built motor and blower? I'm assuming they aren't gong to want to pay you for the money you put into the engine.

How fast were you going to cause so much damage? Did you T-bone the lady or did she hit you?

Where's the freaking pictures!

If I could afford the car payment I'd get the GT500. I wouldn't want to pay on it for five years though. So if I couldn't pay it off early (less than 4) then I wouldn't do that. Shop around on autotrader and don't be afraid to leave Montana for a good deal. They rape people at dealerships here. Even private party vehicles are more expensive than down in CO and UT.

Were the GT500 going to cost to much for me then I would let them total the car out, keep the $5,000, and build up another GT.

This is ofcourse all just my opinion. Anyhow I know we talked but man I just have to say it again. So sorry that lady annihilated your car especially since you had just gotten it together.

since they will let you take off all your after market parts does that include the engine? If so then let them keep the car.. give them the factory blown block back if they whine I'll help you pull your stuff out if you need help. If you can't take your engine out.. hmm.. tough call since its a 5k+ engine isn't it?
