good to know. anyone done the front door speakers on a non shaker system? just wondering if i really need the install kits from crutchfield of if i can just rig it myself.

You should be able to install a 5x7 speaker or a 6.5 inch speaker (if it comes with a 5x7 adapter plate) yourself if you are comfortable with cutting wires and splicing in wires to the new speakers. Not sure if the Crutchfield kit would have come with an adapter that plugs into the factory speaker wire harness.

There is a pdf posted here somewhere with pretty good instructions on how to take apart the car to get to the rear speakers.
