Default Torque converter install...do it myself??

Hey everyone,

I was thinking about getting a torque converter for my 06 GT auto. Should I do the install myself? If so, how hard is it? Any special tools required? Any recommendations? Install write ups, advice?

Do I need a tune after the install?

If I were to pay someone to do it, how much would it cost?

Thanks everyone.

You ever pulled a transmission out of a car before? The install is not really hard if you have any mechanical skills and tools. I believe you will need a tune as well. As far as labor, I would imagine a shop would charge about 6 hours worth.

Well I am confident in my abillities as a mechanic. I am going to do my cams. I was just wondering how hard it is on the ground and if there are any special tools from ford that I would need.

You do not have to pull the trans all the way out from what I hear. A friend of mine is a tranny tech at Ford, he told me he could do mine in less than an hour!
