Over a 40 year or so span of time, the only mods I've regretted much were the ones that I let myself get rushed into. Different car, but I once let a parts counter guy push an old-tech cam that he had quicker access to even though it wasn't what I really had in mind.

Tips for avoiding regret - take enough time to really think through what you're doing and try to anticipate things like how long you'll be happy with your decision or how it might affect other mod thoughts. Have some sort of overall plan and stick to it, don't just buy something because the $ is burning a hole in your pocket.
