the offsets are different (05+ is +40mm and the 99-04 is +30mm, i think). basically, the hub on 99-04 is 30mm from the center of the wheel, and the 05+ hub is 40mm from the center, since the oem wheels are the same width, the edge of a 05+ would sit closer to the hub of the wheel than a 99-04 would (see diagram)
That diagram helped a newb like myself. Thanks for sharing!
I bought new edge offset, 22 or 24mm, can't remember which right now. most here would say it needs lowered and the back stick out to far, but I am "old school" hot rod and like the look. Wheels are 18X9, with 245 front and 275 on back.
here are the 99-04 saleen replica rims on my car.... like the way they stick out..
just like they said, as long as the width isn't too wide they should be fine for the track.

Wow Mikey,
Looking great! I am defiantly going to put eh 99-04 rims on the S197...I just love the aggressive stance it gives it. Especially yours, what kind of drop do you have? Your car looks amazing! Very tastefully done; looks so good... that I really don't think that you could do anything more to make it look as good as it is
I was always told that they wouldn't work because the offset is different and they would sit to far inside.
Its the other way around.
The S197 05-09 wheels have
39 mm offset for the 16x7" wide rim.
45mm offset for the 17x8" wide rim
and 50mm offset for the 18x8.5" rim.
The different offsets tucks more tire under the fender
as the rim widens and to keep the outer edge in the
same place as the rim widens.
The SN95s have 24mm offset on the 17x8" rim.
This is less that the S197s rims and will cause
the outer edge of the rim to be 21mm farther
out than the same 17x8" rim with 45mm of offset.
