More pain than it appears...
If those threads snapped clean off, then you could drill the remaining part of the stud, tap it and put a smaller screw until you get another arm.

That means you need tools and a little expertise.
If you were local to me, I'd come to your rescue and have a cold one afterward lol.

can anyone think of a good temp fix? could i force a cotter pin around the stud? i just need to be able to drive it until next weekend. It seems likes its in there pretty tight, i couldnt pull it out with my hand. I pulled the car in and out of the driveway earlier this evening with no problems. I'm going to take it to the dealership Mon morning and play stupid to see if they'll fix it under warranty. Its only 2mi to the dealership so i'm not worried and i have roadside assistance

Out of curiosity, did MGW supply you with a new nut for that shaft with the shifter?

Just wondering cause my Steeda shifter came with a new nut. They say its a single use locknut.
