Default MGW Update - shifter question

So as all of you know who read my thread the other day about the shifter linkage arm breaking and mgw sending me the replacement part, it came today! MGW is awesome. It was NOT even their part that broke and they really took care of me and for that i ordered some engine bling from them So the part came today and on the rear end of it there is metal piece. When i install it would it be easier to reuse the piece on my car or use the whole assembley they sent me. Here is what they sent....
