My 05 was also a "Mid life crisis present" from my wife. The wait almost killed me, but once it came in, my wife, the lady at the dealership, and myself were sooo relieved. So it's up to you on the order now get later, find one similar, or to get an 06, am sure you will be happy no matter what you decide.

They were Ford employees, so take of it what you will. But even if you're right about everyone taking off for a 2 week vacation, the point was that '05 production doesn't stop at the end of June as you said here:

"The plant MUST shut down at the end of June for change over to take place (the plant is shut down for two weeks). Whatever 05's that have not been built by then never will be. "

There is no equipment changeover, so everyone could take a 2 week vacation at the end of June and return to resume production of '05's. Not that any of this really matters to me since I already have mine, but people who have '05's on order might read your comments and become unduly alarmed.

That sounds like what I read too although I couldn't find it in a quick search just now. If I find it I'll post a link.

 

I sure hope you are right. My order should be submitted by the end of June as it looks like right now. My dealer has 2 GTs locked in right now and when they are finished I am in the next group of two scheduled. Even though it will be a year old when I get it I sure do want that Sonic Blue GT! The waiting is killing me! Keeping my fingers crossed.................................

 

I was formerly an Industrial Engineer at the Flatrock plant for the last 2 years. I know work as an Industial Engineer at Vehicle Operations in Dearborn. I just called my contact in scheduling at the plant today and the first day for 06 production is August 4th. I personally am waiting for the 06 for the tungstun silver and 18 inch wheels.

 

tripbus, does this mean they will be building the 05's right up to that date? I keep reading on this forum about them taking 2 weeks off in June. Hopefully they will be building the 05's all fo July too! Thanks in advance.

I'm feeling ya on this one Brad. I'm totally in the same spot. I was told up until a week ago that I could no longer order an 05........so I was gonna go head and wait till the 06 order forms hit my dealership. Then the salesman calls me a few days ago and says he can order me an 05 now and have it for the end of July. Now I don't know what to do. I have no clue how much longer I'll have to wait for an 06 if I order one. Plus, I'm terrified that the Bullit rims will not continue to come standard on the 06 GT's ........and I freakin love those rims. If I wait for the 06 and the standard rims change.....I'm gonna be p##sed.

I just don't know if I can wait any longer considering I know now that I can have one within 2 months....and for an 06 I'll be waiting until September or maybe even October. Decisions, decisions [:@]

P.S..........if anyone knows that the Bullit rims will still be available on the 06 GT's (and I mean the 17" ones), please let me know

 

Thanks everyone. I have decided that if the 2005 comes in I am going to take it. The main reason for this is I want to have my for some of the summer. Also, I am going to keep the car for atleast four years and it will be a 2005 with the lowest amount of miles on it. Its also the first of this body style, which may bring up its value and there are less of them around. And throttle147 I really lile the bullits too, I wouldn't put any other rim on the car. Now that I have decided, I am going in to my dealership on monday to talk to them about the order. About the priority numbers......If I ask my dealer to higher my priority number can they do that?

They will end the production of ther 05 models on August 5th. During that weekend, they will retool for the 06 model. Since there is not much change from 05 to 06 models, they don't have to do very much to get ready. When they return from the weekend on August 8th, they will start the 06 models.

So in trying to read between the lines here. Does "2005 FINAL ORDERS DUE" / "24 June" mean that your dealer has to have an allotment still available by 24 June and then send your order in by that date? The reason I ask is that I have put a deposit down 6 weeks ago now and they cant tell me for certain that I will get my 05 Sonic Blue GT. The dealer has 2 GTs being built right now with complete VIN's and I am in the next round of 2 orders after those 2. Just trying to see which direction I will go if I cant get my color is all. Thanks........
