SCT X3 Strategy Questions
#2
With the X3 you never now without powering up, I wish SCT could have a SN database for one to check.
Units sold up to july had both things, canned tunes and space for custom tunes so is pretty easy you have one that do both.
To check, connect it to the car (or a PC with a USB A-B cable, a printer cable will do), select "program vehicle", "install tune" and in the next screen (depending on the firmware version you would get an extra disclaimer screen you need to press select) if you get the option of "preprogramed" or "custom tune" you have a X3 that do both SF and custom.
May I ask why you want to know?

Well initially I did not think I had any custom tunes and just the canned SCT tune. I should have slowed down and read the instructions. My tuner has both canned and custom tunes in it. I didn't find the custom tunes until later last night. I did get one down loaded. It was too late last night when I figured it out to post again. I needed to get up in a few hours for work. Anyway thanks for all the quick responses!

i wouldnt just load an unknown custom tune. you dont know what it was designed to work with and if you luck out and get the right computer code you could cause some serious damage if the tune is designed for different parts then you have.
Pay the 75 bucks and get some great custom ones from bama or brenspeed

I should have been a little more specific. I did in fact buy a new tuner with three custom tunes loaded. I could not find them in the tuner at first. The place I bought it from was closed. So I decided to post here and do a little research. I discovered my mistake shortly after I visited SCT’s web site. I should have slowed down and read the instructions first. My initial thought was maybe I received a canned tuner instead of a custom tuner by mistake. Thanks again for the help guys!!!
