Halo Fogs help
I got some halo fog lights for my GT. Installed and seemed right. When it got dark my passenger side halo wasnt as bright as driver side. So i decided to rewire it and it looked fine. Did a 45 min drive and all seemed good. Stopped at a DD and when i came out i tured the car on checked the lights and now it's the other way around. Driver side is dimmer than passenger side. Maybe they dont like the really cold weather we're getting here in jersey? Think they might warm up at dif rates?
It just bothers me cause it sat night and it looks a little stooooopid with one halo really bright and the other not so bright.
Need some input.

thats weird. did you check all of the wiring to see if something got stripped or if a wire was not completely connected? also, how did you hook up the halos? through the parking lights or what? if so, you may have a bad connection to the wire. otherwise i have no idea.
yes i spliced it and soldered it to the parking light. i checked it today when i rewired the passenger side. Took the wheel well liner off and took a peek and it all looked ok. might take it apart monday again. meanwhile goin to have the foglights on so its less noticeable.
Still open to suggestions.

Just got back home and it seems like they just warm up at diff times. I had it parked for about 2 hours in freezing cold. When i started it up they were both very dim. After a few mins the passenger side was much brighter than the other. So i drove home with the Fogs on so it wouldnt be so obvious. When i parked in my driveway i checked and they both had equal intensity. It's weird. Maybe i got a bad pair of lights.
I messaged the seller for more info.
Will post as soon as i get an answer.
Any other ideas are well welcome.

Mine was doing the same thing. One side would be dimmer(driver's side in my case). It wasn't my soldering since I soldered mine very well and sealed it. It's usually caused by one of the pins in the clip not being snapped in all the way then backing out. It could also be if you added additional wire between the halo and the inverter (not counting the included extensions). This causes the halo to become dimmer but since yours was bright in the beginning then this probably isn't the case. Also, check to be sure that there is no water inside of the black connector. If this happens the power will find the path of least resistance and arc inside of the connector rather than giving full power to your halo. Make sure you tape up and seal the black connectors. Also make sure the power inverter has no way for water to get into it by sealing it with silicone. I sealed the wire entry and exit points on my inverters.
Good luck!
Good luck!

CalSpec thanks for all the advice. Actually i read one of your old posts on this b4 install. All is silicone sealed including black boxes.
My friend used to do sound system intalled for a living so i'm goin to give him a call maybe tomorrow and see if he has any ideas.
I'll keep you posted.

I think I have another solution that's better though. I did a search and found this guy's post on another forum about CCFL inverters. Read the first post in this link...

Look at the pictures of the side by side inverter comparison in his second post. The little silver inverter is just like the one I have. It's puny compared to the one he's talking about. Anyway, I think I'm going to get the FocuzTech inverter and try it out. I'll probably buy just one, since it can power two halos, and mount it in the middle between the halo fogs. Mounting it between the fogs will allow me to connect the two halos without extending their wires to the inverter. Extending the wires would be bad. The longer the wire the dimmer the light. Being too short is ok but being too long is not(insert joke here). The power and ground wire can be any length so I'll extend that down to the parking lamp(either side).
Note: My driver's side halo fog was dim even while the engine was on and driving around town. It looked stupid. After I shortened the wires from the inverter to the halo rings it doesn't do that anymore and now it's only dim when parked with engine off but only on the one side.
