Default Mixing tires?

Is it ok to have a different set of tires in the back and a different set up front? My fronts are making a lot of road noise and its really getting annoying. The backs are fine and probably have another 10-15k miles left on them. Anyone know if this is ok? One of the guys at the tire place said that its not good to do that but never gave me a reason. I figured its probably fine to do but I just wanted to get someones input with first hand experience.

Also any recommendations for front tires? I have 18x9 in the front. I am looking for something 150 a tire and below.

Mixing different sizes is ok, with in the proper rim size, but different tread patterns isn't a good idea. check out this link.

The OP asked about front versus back, not left versus right. Your link talks about different tires on the same axle. According to that link, people shouldn't be running staggered if their car wasn't that way from the factory.

I don't see anything wrong with different tires front to back. People do it all the time. I'd think they just need to be close in performance capabilities. Like don't run summers up front and winters out back, etc.

Several people here are running Drag radials out back. For sure they don't have them upfront also.

Nothing wrong with it. Just make sure speed ratings are the same.
Look into maybe the 255/45/18 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercars. On the cheap side, and a good tire imo. OE on the GT500.
