What are the best tires for our stock rims?
I live in California more specific Los Angeles it rains here maybe 15 days out of the year other then that its usually dry warm weather. What are the best tires for me? I dont like being at a red light then having my tires squeak a few times just because i gave it just a little more then I needed you know? These stock tires are really lame. Haha

I lived in LA for 25 years, and had my stang there for the first year. I liked the Goodyear F1 Eagle D3's ultra high performance summer tires. 255/45 18 is the widest our stock wheels are supposed to handle as you know, but in the rear you can cheat 275/40 18 on if you like, since the sidewall is not under the same pressure in hard corners for the rears.
There is a .3 inch height difference between the two sizes, 255/45/18 being 27" and 275/40/18 being 26.7 for that brand. That's only 0.15 inch difference from axel to ground, or axel to top fender. I liked the combination.
My friends with stock power just put 255/45/18 F1 summer eagles all around, and many with up to 420hp SC power said those tires worked very well with full boost. Remember to warm them up a little before hardcore activity.
They're good in the rain too. Just remenber on cool winter nights in LA, if it gets cooler than 55 degrees or so, to watch powering in and out of corners as all summer tires get harder below 55 degrees or so. Over all for living in LA, with winter temps in the day being in the upper 50, 60,s 70' even 80's, your going to be a universe more happy with those summer tires. Erik

I haven't had the Mustang long enough for new shoes, but I have been very happy in the past with Goodyear Eagle GT's. They are very quiet tires and by rotating them every 5k, I've never gotten less than 40k miles out of them.
