Ford did create and test a V10 in a Mustang back in 2004. It was based on the 4.6l V8 with two additional cylinders (it came out to 5.8 liters or 351 ci - cool). It used a lot of current parts from the Ford parts bin - pistons, connecting rods, etc. IIRC it made ~450 hp and they went through a lot of trannies and rear ends during testing.
Rather have a V8 making the power of a V10. We already have alot of cool engines just down the pipe line; Ecoboost TTV6, 4v 5.0L and 6.2L. We don't need a V10.
Someone did make a v10 once in there s197. I think they used an Austin Martin engine but I am not sure. It was in a modified mustangs magazine I believe.
