Decrease the value?
I think there's lots of "youngins" that think installing thos parts raises the worth of the car.
It doesn't! It lowers it!
Look at the cars selling on Barret Jackson- stock cars with big engines and the right #'s win!
In the short run, it might make not quite a big diff but never call what you're doing "investing".
It would only be investing if you expected to win some $$$ at a car show or race... can't see that happening to many people, even here!

I have the Flows and they rock!!! As for decreasing the value I seriously doubt this kinda thing would decrease the value.....I guess he has a point if you start putting on body kits, etc as then when you come to sell it there will be a 'smaller market' for that kinda car, ie - most people want the car to look like stock!
I hope your ready for a VERY loud ride with the SLP's - too loud inside the car for me but everyone is different and has different preferences I guess!

Like others have said in this posting it will decrease them based on personal preferences of the people who are buying it. However, it could increase what some might pay as well.
Like delurker said, keep all the stock parts, and then if you decide to sell, or restore someday you have the originals.

I agree with what the others said. Mod's will definitely decrease the value, your dad is right there. But hey, are you taking care of this car for the next owner or is it your car?
Small mod's like exhaust are not going to have much impact on the resale value, but big things like a supercharger, bodywork or bling-y wheels will. Anytime you do a significant mod, you reduce the number of people the car will appeal to (and therefore who you can sell it to). And dealerships won't want to touch it if you try to trade it in.
==That's the one thing that scares me about adding the sunroof.==
I've been down that road twice and I will NEVER EVER NEVER put an aftermarket sunroof/ moonroof in a car again! There is nothing more miserable that having a roof leak in a car. Get a vert, then you can put the whole roof down!

gianf, good point! i dont even know what i was thinking. i really dont wanna ever sell my car so f it right...doesnt matter what the resale value will be. i guess only if i was obligated i would sell it. not lookin that way though. thanks for that!
Actually...
It depends on WHAT you do to you Car...
You can take a 30 year old stang... Make it mint and sell it for .. oh... 15 grand if it is a hot wanted one.
Take the same car..... Chrome all the suspension. Professional Candy Apple hand rubbed lacquer paint job... Top quality custom wheels... Super datailed Engine Compartment with the best name brand stuff and pump up the power... Keep it street legal... and sell it for oh... 35 or 40 grand.
Modified is a form of customizing... but if it looks like you took a hack saw and chopped a hole in your hood to make a scoop... used flexible tubing to reroute your exhaust complete with 6" muffler tips... Crammed a stereo that wasn't designed for the car and didn't fit into the dash... Painted it with a spray can... you will cut the value by 40% over 10 years.
Use quality parts and do quality work.. and don't SPAZE it out (IE: Neon lights and Orange Purple Splash Graphics and dancing hydrolics) and you can actually increase the value of the car, expecially if you do good enough work to exit the "Modified" class and enter into the wrelm of "Customized".
Most of all... you have to remember the classification (American Muscle Car!) that your working with. and stick with that when your designing your mods.
Thank god Cars aren't like motorrcycles though.... Stock Harley Sportster - 7 or 8 grand.
Customized Harley Sportster with engine mods, streatched and choppered frame... Cool paint and custom gas tank and seats... 30 grand... OUCH
NOTE: Before some know-it-all starts dinging me on prices... I did NO research.. I type this on the fly making numbers up as I go based on what I have seen out there at car shows.
