It's all a matter of preference. With both the stock tires and the one's I'm running now, I experimented by starting at 30 PSI and working up in 2 PSI increments up to about 36 or 38 PSI, then back down until I found the pressure that worked for my style of driving. I'm currently running 34 PSI in the tires in my sig. All tires are different and there's no, one "wonder" pressure.

Thanks Nuke I just got the new wheels and tires and only have 200 miles on them. I will try different pressures.

255 45 17 fronts at 35 psi and 285 40 17 rears at 30 psi. i find more psi in the front helps minimize premature edge wear and makes the steering more predictable.

What are the profiles of those tires? You may need more than 32 psi just to maintain load capacity. And I would plan on running different pressures front vs rear due to the size difference alone.

Speaking of which, there is nothing wrong with running different front and rear pressures even when all four tires are the same size. A little more front pressure sharpens corner "turn-in", while slightly less in the rear tires improves ride quality in general and cornering behavior and rear tire grip on rough roads in particular (especially if your shocks and struts are OE and don't have many miles on them).

I run about 4 or 5 psi more in my fronts than in the rears (all four are 235/50-18). Normally, that's 33 or 34(f) vs 29 or 30(r), which is adequate considering I don't carry stuff in the trunk or rear seat passengers very often (and only for a very few miles when it does happen).

That tire is a couple of load index numbers higher than the 235/50-18, so you can probably run them with a couple less psi than you'd run the 235/50's at. 30 psi ought to work OK for that size, load capacity-wise. Adjust a little from there instead of from 32, paying attention to how far around the shoulder your cornering scuffing goes and how skittish (or not) the rear end gets.

I bought Goodyear Comfortreds 235/55/18 for a smooth, quiet ride and they do that. The tire has a 51 max PSI. So, I contacted Goodyear (emailed them) and asked them should I run higher pressure than 32 PSI since the max pressure is so high. They said no, run what is on the door sticker.

I want a quiet ride and performance doesn't matter to me. I have found 38 PSI gave me the quietest ride but was a little stiff. 29 PSI gave me the smoothest ride but was louder at 50 mph or higher. 32 seems to be a happy medium.

The Goodyear emailer said the car manufacturers go to great lengths to find what tire pressure fits the cars best. So far, they seem right. 32 PSI for me.
