Question Royal Purple Oil Filter

Anybody seen or used this yet? http://www.champlabs.com/royalpurple.aspx
It looks pretty good, but I don't know if it's worth another ten dollars over the Motorcraft. I guess they're only going to be at Pep Boys. I saw them there for fifteen dollars.

I wouldn't sweat oil filters all that much. The Motorcraft is a great bang-for-the-buck if you're doing oil changes within 7500 miles although I have a few vehicles that I've put over 200,000 miles on using crappy Fram filters and never had any issues with oil useage, low compression, etc.. All 3 of my vehicles at the moment go 10,000 miles between oil/filter changes. The Stang gets the $15 Amsoil filter whereas my SUV's get the M1 filter. Choose whatever makes you comfortable.

Motorcraft is what I use and it works fine. I thought there was someone who did a comparison with motorcraft vs fram vs K&N or something like that and he said that the motorcraft had the best filters in it or something to that effect. Anyway, just use whatever you feel works the best.

From personal experience I'd recommend motorcraft but go with whatever you think would work best, Fram is good too.

Fram filters get flamed a lot and probably are lower rated than most others. But I've had personal experience that makes me somewhat comfortable having used them; 3 vehicles with over 200,000 miles that used dino oil and Fram filters at 3,000 mile oil/filter changes and 1 with over 200,000 miles with M1 oil and a Fram filter at 10,000 mile oil changes. 2 of those vehicles I've sold but know they're still on the road with over 300,000 miles and no engine problems.

I'm not touting using Fram filters, just that they've worked well for me although I'm now using other filters that appear to perform better.

Just my 2 cents...

That is a good read. I think I'm going to stick with my Motorcraft.
