Removing heat shield
After reading through the other new posts... NOW I see why you're trying to remove the hoodliner. to get to the hoodscoop fasteners and finish your stripe removal.
You had a fun day huh? I feel for you.. I'm about to run down to pepboys and get all the fuses, extra wire, etc I need to run this god-damn gauge pod tomorrow.
These "vacation" weekends are fun!
Pull hard enough on those fasteners and they WILL come off. don't be afraid to get physical with them.

Okay, thanks guys. I ended up calling the guy that installed my stripes and he told me to get something that looks like a broken screwdriver but that looks like it has the back of a hammer at the end. So I went to AutoZone and this guy with nailpolish and long hair had no clue what I was looking for. He barely even made effort to help me. I even took him to my car to show him what I was talking about, and he said to use a flathead, which I'd already done. Luckily, I happened upon exactly what I needed. It's a door panel tool of some sort that a different man there at AutoZone (who actually knew his stuff) referred to as "The Fork," and it worked perfectly. None of the push-pins came out broken.
Yeah when I was at AutoZone they didn't have the replacements... I pulled one off from the liner with my new tool and there were none that matched. Luckily they all came off fine... it doesn't look like they'll need replacing.
Hehe, yeah. We finally finished today. The hood scoop was a major pain to get unbolted and removed. A couple of the screws were pretty rusted out and broken. So it looks like I'm going to have to find some replacement screws.
So yeah... we aren't putting the scoop back on until we figure out where to find some. Anyone know?
We then had to bust out the hairdryer since it was getting dark and the sun wasn't heating up the stripes. That really seemed to help with the removal. My boyfriend was a big help... it was pretty much a first for both of us. The car is looking great free of any vinyl. Tomorrow I'm going to remove the little amount of adhesive that's on the car give it a good cleaning and hopefully get the new spoiler and replacement Roush louvers on there. I'm excited.
I'm guessing you mean the hood liner push pins? Work it as loose as you can, then stick a pair of needle nose pliers in there and yank it out. You can buy replacements at Autozone, so don't worry too much about damaging them. You should be able to re-use most of not all of them anyway.

Glad to hear it worked out.. it's callled a door-panel tool yes.
Guys with hair and nailpolish working at azone=reason why I will NEVER live in CA. lol
I have a (non-scooped) stock alloy-color hood that I'll take $500 shipped to CA. It's been taking up space in my garage for some time... would probably look great on your car, tungsten/silver w/ alloy hood.
Make me an offer if you're interested.. i hear that it's a $1k hood but I'll contemplate any offer.
