How hard is it to clearcoat it yourself? I was thinking about following pascal's advise and using 400 grit and doing it myself.

Ill take your hood yellow and all off your hands if you get tired of looking at it. Ill sand it down and put one coat of satin clear coat on and call it good .
Yeah, 8oz more on that hood will stop this car dead in its track!!

pay someone to do it, you would pay more for the equipment to do it right then what you would pay to have it done.

OK . 8 oz is is only 1/2 a pound
not that much unless you are paying $500 for 12 lbs
thats $42 a pound

$58 a lb if it was $700

If you were really concerned about weight that would actually slow you down, you would be spending the $500-$700 on a 1 piece driveshaft and light weight wheels, not a hood that is just 12 pounds lighter than the stock one. Plus, as pascal said, it's not like clear weighs much anyways.

It was kind of a sarcastic statement. hahahahah ha a aaaa ok

Sarcastic with a little truth in it . I would buy the hood for less weight if I already had lost 700 pounds and needed that last 12 pounds to reach the magic number 712for a v6 that is.

I have been thinking of ordering a raw stock hood and not paint it at all . just shine and buff it . Or strip one down . But I have a fear that their would be a flaw in it and look bad.

Take about a pound off the stock hood .

not trying to be a argumentative .
