Default Procharger ppl chime in!!!

Im just curious, how hard of an install is a procharger on our cars? and what is the difference between a regular supercharger like a whipple, and a procharger? which one is easier to install? Thanks, im not too well educated in the field and just trying to learn for the future.

Putting in a Procharger isnt any more difficult than any other s/c. 07-up is easier than 05-06 because the p/s reservoir does not have to be moved and the coolant system isnt opened up. It took me 13hrs and I wasnt rushing it by any means. ProCharger guys have gotten it done in about 6 hrs.
As far as differences, you can search and find all questions to your answers, since this topic is brought up about a couple times a week.

I just finished installing mine about a week ago the install was not bad at all. I'm not sure how long it took me because I put it up on jack stands and did a little bit at a time. I think probably the worst thing about the install was that procharger was suppose to give me a 10psi set up on my D1sc the pulley on it was meant for the P1 series. My dyno tuner got it up to 5700 rpm's and it was pushing 12 psi. So procharger just sent me another larger pulley to get me down to 10 psi. The pulley that was on there would have put me at 14psi not good.

Going with FI I see...I thought you were not going that route? Something about 300 HP being enough? anyway if you don't have any exp working on a modular motor or not very mechanically oriented get either type of S/C installed by a pro. I have a Whipple and had it installed and tuned on my 06 (see sig) and though I have installed all other mods to my car with help from friends I did not feel comfortable doing a S/C install. Can you read directions? Do you have all the basic tools to install? If so you and your father can do the install taking your time in a weekend. I opted for the easy way and mine was installed in about 8 hrs by my tuner/installer.

Difference between the 2 S/C's
Whipple is a twin screw S/C and gives instant torque (very flat torque curve) and great seat of the pants feel off the line (unless your spinning the tires). IMO the TS S/C's look like they could have been installed from the factory (esp the Whipple ) which has Ford Racing/Whipple on each side of the S/C.
TS S/C's have a nice whine (not whistle) and are very quit at idle.

The Centri S/C's like the procharger are much like a turbo except belt driven. The procharger has a distinct whistle (even at idle) and everyone will know that something is under the hood other then just the motor. Some like that and others don't. Very big numbers can be had by both types and the Centri's build boost as the RPM's climb. Not to say they have no low end torque at all but not nearly as much as the Whipple (TS= twin screw).

There are many threads on this and I believe we have something stickied about "how to choose the S/C that is right for you"....there are many questions that need to be asked and answered before you decide on which type of S/C to buy. We need to know those answers too cause if we don't many of us will just recommend what they have..... I would recommend the Whipple -cause I have one and (Cervinis uses the Whipple and used to use the Procharger-don't know why though). I bought the Whipple before Cervinis started to use them as the Whipple meets and exceeds all the requirements I wanted from FI (factory look and instant torque-IMO needed for these heavy cars and running 20's)...hope it helps!

Either way FI is fun and both types you are interested are great and proven S/C's

The procharger is nice, great power! Just went for a long ride in a buddy's car. It's crazy how loud the blower is at idle! It does have a cool BOV swoosh when he lets off

You have 4.10's so you get your jump off the line from your gears and rpms build up faster causing your boost to kick in faster. I have the Paxton, with a hell of a whistle - to the point that people can hear it through cell phone conversations, and love the easy drivability, got kick from the gears, and a kick in the a$$ at WOT. You cant go wrong with any of them.

Occasionally, I think maybe I should have went with a T/S just because of the additional torque down low. But then again, its kind of wasted and would only serve the purpose of faster tire wear, and having to be more gentle on the throttle. I like having the ability to just smash the gas and go without much drama, and the acceleration just starts to push you further in the seat as rpms build. Once rpms are up, and it doesnt take long, there is really no difference between the two styles. I have 459rwhp through the stock drivetrain. NICE!!
At idle, the blower is a bit noisy. But just off idle, it quiets down alot. While driving down the highway, it almost sounds like a very hushed whistle of a jet. Kinda cool to me. No matter what type/brand you get, you'll like it.....alot.

Oh yeah, I sell them too.
