Can i hook my radar detector to dome light?

I guess title says the main thing. I do not have the map lights or the fancy rear view mirror. I have the deluxe mustang which only has a mirror and no compass or anything. I wanted to see if anyone has done this.

i tapped right into the sjb in the passenger side kick panel

Me too. Just tap into a switched power source.
