I have a feeling that most that are saying trade for the terminator have never driven one. The OLD fox body SN95's were horrible to drive. Very uncomfortable over long distances. Squeaks and rattles galore!!! If you want to trade for it's collector status, then maybe. But if you are trading to replace the S197, no way!!!

fox bodies and sn95s are two different generations of mustangs.

Unless you plan on opening up the motor and forging the pistons and rods in the S197, I would say termie. It would probably be cheaper in the long run if you plan on modding.

I had a 97 GT and I would say that it was more comfortable to drive than my '08.

First, OP- I'm glad you kept your S197. Even though I did not keep mine ( I gave it to the G/F) for a Terminator, I don't regret it at all.

There is a lot of information that is off about the Cobra, and a lot of people, and my assumption is they do not have a lot of track time, are way off.

STOCK TERMINATORS have run 12.4's more than once. They also trap 114-115 STOCK. A Whipple or KB GT will usually trap that, with a pretty good driver.

The S197 does not handle better by any means. That is a proven fact. IRS>SRA when it comes to straight out handling. Braking. You are telling me that the Cobra, which has 13 inch brakes, does not stop as well as a GT that has 12.4 inch brakes? That does not make sense.

The Value of Cobra's to this very day, is still higher than GT's. My 2007 GT through KBB, suggested retail value is 21,600 with 24,000 miles and every option. My 2003 Cobra, with less options is worth 22,400 Retail Value with 21,000 miles. See the difference?

Also, you can build up the GT motor with your basic, H/C/I, Pistons, etc. It will not be more efficient than an 03 Cobra. Having 4V's is better than having 3V's. Plus, the Heads will still flow just as good, if not better than aftermarket heads for a 3V.

The motor isn't the only thing good. A lot of people forget, the T-56 trans, that is beefed up? The stronger and upgraded half shafts on the weak IRS. Yeah, really weak.

Also, The GT's can run good times, and handle well. Cobra's will always be a better bang for buck, and probably retain their value better.

It is comparing apples to oranges. For those that made snide comments, about posting in the New Edge section; what was the point of that comment? You must be a real a$$hat if you make a comment that insinuates you want to start something for no reason. Just because you do not like the way a car looks, doesn't mean you should make comments about it, and talk ****. If you don't know about the car, which quite a few people that posted here don't, do not post about it. My .02

FYI- I own both cars, and both are supercharged, and daily driven. I would know better than most, how they drive, how fast they are, and what not. If you also own both, you should have someone that can drive, drive your stock Cobra, and run your S/C GT. You will be surprised.

Thats odd, I have both and I like the 07 better than my 04 bone stock Termi with less than 9K miles. I think my 07 handles, brakes and now that I have the KB is faster as well. My suspension on my 07 only has Eibach springs which are $500 installed. So it is basically stock. My Termi has alot of wheel hop. Do you have this problem? Another problem I have with the Termi is the ride comfort. I feel crammed in my seats. I work out alot so Im not a small guy (Not over weigh either). That maybe part of the problem. With that said my 07 has alot more room and is very comfortable. I can honestly say the front seats have about the same space as my Hummer H3 and my 08 Tahoe. I love my 07 and if I had to sell one I would sell the Termi. I have given my opinion in this thread before if you want to read them. Thanks

I hear a lot of S197 owners drool over the GT500 and slam the Termi, but IMO the GT looks a lot better than the GT500, and the Termi looks better than the GT (S197). Compared to the GT500, the GT has better looking rims, a better looking spoiler, body-colored rocker panels, and no side stripes. Sure, the GT500 has some features that look better than the GT's, but those things I mentioned before actually detract from the GT500's looks.

I just wanted to offer my dissenting opinion. Am I the only one who likes the GT more than the GT500?

Yes.

Honestly I agree with some of what you said. The front end on the GT has kinda grown on me. I think I might like it as much as the GT500 whereas in the past I would've said GT500 front end by far.

I do like the spoiler on the GT500 better though.

I am sure there are 100's of other GT owners who agree with you .....that maybe why they own GT's and not GT500's....but I assure you there are no GT500 owners that would agree and plenty of mustang owners that would disagree as well....its all in what you like as an individual...your opinion is valid as it is your opinion,,,,
