Default Raw or painted?

I just got a cdc chin for my PP V6. From all the comments, I was expecting it to go on without paint and match the texture/color of the stock rockers and mirror casings. If you've put one of these on, you know that's not the case. In my case, the chin actually seemed to have the texture sanded off. I sprayed some black trim paint on it and it looks a hundred times better, much better than I ever expected it to look, but I've still heard a few people mention they've put these on without any kind of paint. Is this you? Do you have any pics? I'll post mine after the rain stops and I can get the car cleaned up.

What a coincidence! I just got the CDC chin spoiler on my V6 with the PP about a week ago. I agree that it didn't match the rockers as much as I would have liked.

Its actually sitting in the garage right now with flat black paint drying on it. Its looking 10X better than it did before, if you ask me.

I did start a thread recently that had some pics of it before I painted it. So, if you're so inclined, look for my threads under my profile and you can go to the thread to see the pics. I'm hoping to get pics soon of the chin spoiler painted for comparison. When I do, I'll try to remember to let you know, so that you can check them out.

I don't know if its the same with the v6 chin spoilers, but the cdc classic you can get in raw plastic which has texture or the primed one that has no texture.

Here are a couple of comparison pics from my Mustang. The first is with the chin spoiler unpainted, the second is with it painted.

I just simply taped off the car and used a flat back spray paint. I just sprayed it today, so the endurance of the spray paint is still up for grabs.

That looks pretty good.

I would have gone with the Fusion from Krylon...that stuff will outlast the car. I cannot decide if this in my future...I sort of like them...and sort of dont. Totally on the fence.

Interesting, here's a pic or 2 of my unpainted, black CDC Classic.
I don't have the rockers to match, but it looks a nice solid color on mine.
I previously had an unpainted CDC Classic that I painted with a few different sprays, including the Fusion. It only lasted a few months, then got chipped up & needed repainted.
That was why I ended up changing it out with the black finish one.

Yes, this is exactly the difference I'm talking about. I think it looks a billion times better after you painted it, and looks better than most pictures I've seen in ads for this particular spoiler.

FWIW, I've used Krylon on patio furniture, and while it sticks well, I don't think it holds up very well at all to sun and weather. I used Duplicolor's black trim paint over some adhesion promotor on the chin spoiler. I'll let you guys know how it holds up.

A satin black with chip guard will solve the problem. It will also give you the fine texture your looking for. Best done with a spray gun and not a rattle can.
