What does everyone think of the stock breaks/pads? Is it worth upgrading to a big brake kit, or is it a waste of money?

EDIT: This is a DD mainly that will get very little track time.

If I went to the track or did MotorX I'd consider it. Including highway sprints up to 120 MPH every so often, the stock brakes have been fine for me.

Unless you are pushing major hp, the stock brakes will do just fine. I'm still using the stock brakes and the regional pads.

The stock brakes are good enough for DD. Flush the system every couple of years to get the water out. Use a high quality brake fluid, such as Motorcraft High Performance DOT 3. This has a minimum dry boiling point of 500 degrees F, which is higher than a lot of the other DOT 3 brake fluids.

What about just upgrading the pads?

Get some Hawk HPS pads. They make a huge difference and you can get the fronts for like 80 and rears are 65 i think. You can upgrade the fluid too, but unless you are doing HPDE's you wont need it. I do lots of spirited mountain driving and haven't boiled my stock fluid yet.

i still have the stock v6 brakes (30k mi) and they are fine even at stopping the 20 inch wheels. ive thought about getting a big brake kit but i really have no need for it, these do the trick.

Thanks for the help all, I didn't realize this thread was that old already...

So the Hawk HPS pads are the way to go along with SS lines (for the DD)? Any other brand thats better?

Also, anyone ever heard of this: http://www.stangsuspension.com/store...idproduct=1082

Hawk pads and SS lines will do the trick if its a DD. I wouldnt chand unless you do real aggressive driving often or blown.
